Description	:	Death of Mrs. Caroline Meyer: The sad news of the death of Mrs. Caroline Meyer was a dreadful shock to the people of this community (Burr, Otoe Co., Nebraska). Although Mrs. Meyer had arrived at the ripe old age of 80 years, 10 months and 28 days, she had been enjoying good health until Tuesday evening when she was suddenly taken ill. Dr. Charles Mayer was called and on Wednesday she was rushed to the General Hospital in Lincoln and an operation was performed from which she never regained consciousness. Read More	Death of Mrs. Caroline Meyer: The sad news of the death of Mrs. Caroline Meyer was a dreadful shock to the people of this community (Burr, Otoe Co., Nebraska). Although Mrs. Meyer had arrived at the ripe old age of 80 years, 10 months and 28 days, she had been enjoying good health until Tuesday evening when she was suddenly taken ill. Dr. Charles Mayer was called and on Wednesday she was rushed to the General Hospital in Lincoln and an operation was performed from which she never regained consciousness. Mrs. Meyer had been living with her son Henry Meyer, on the home place, 2 miles east and 1 mile north of Burr. Grandma Meyer was born at Hanover, Germany, of September 2, 1851. In 1866 she was confirmed in the Lutheran church. She studied to be a nurse and soon became a deaconess. In 1878 she came to Nebraska and was married to Henry Meyer of Osage. They purchased a farm two miles east and one mile north of Burr. In 1886 they moved to St. Louis and spent only a few years there. They then returned to Nebraska and again settled down on the farm. In 1905 her husband passed away. She leaves to mourn her death 5 children, Henry and Herman of Burr, Ed of Palmyra, Florence Brennan of Crab Orchard, Augusta Brundwick of Wisner; also several grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. The funeral services were conducted by Reverend Streng in the Lutheran church on Sunday at 11 A.M. The body was laid to rest in the Lutheran cemetery, two miles north of Burr.
