Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Perry Bruce Ellis and Hunter Finch Ellis. She was the widow of and Henry W. Shearin. Mrs. Shearin was retired from Americal Corp. Where she was employed for twenty-two years. She was a graduate of the former Zeb Vance High School and was a member of Gillburg United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 2, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at... Read More	Carolyn Ellis Stainback Shearin, 81, of Henderson, NC died Friday, January 31, 2020 in a local nursing home. Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Perry Bruce Ellis and Hunter Finch Ellis. She was the widow of and Henry W. Shearin. Mrs. Shearin was retired from Americal Corp. Where she was employed for twenty-two years. She was a graduate of the former Zeb Vance High School and was a member of Gillburg United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 2, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Gillburg United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Jennifer Sawyer. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Surviving are a daughter, Janet S. Newton (Bob), a son, Cecil Talmadge Stainback Jr., a stepson, Ray Shearin (Jonnie); five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Bruce E. Ellis and a daughter-in-law, Joann Stainback. The family will receive friends Sunday, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at Gillburg United Methodist Church. All other times, they will be at her home. Serving as pall bearers will be, James Lilley, Raymond Strum, Ronnie Hayes, Joe Perry, David Smith, Wesley Harlow. Randy Hayes and Brandon Shearin. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Gillburg United Methodist Church, c/o Jean Pernell 2744 Rock Mill Road Henderson, NC 27537. Arrangements are by Sossamon Funeral Home.
