Description	:	Carolyn R. Girard, 77, of Arma, Kansas died at 12:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 13, 2015 at Via Christi Village in Pittsburg, Kansas. Mrs. Girard was born June 21, 1938 at Frontenac, Kansas the daughter of Antone and Ruth Roberts Benedict. Carolyn was a homemaker who had lived in Arma most of her life. She also was assistant city clerk for the City of Arma from 1975 until retiring in 2014. She also helped her husband in the operation of Girard Motor Company and Arma Mobile Transit. Mrs. Girard was born June 21, 1938 at Frontenac, Kansas the daughter of Antone and Ruth Roberts Benedict. Carolyn was a homemaker who had lived in Arma most of her life. She was raised in Frontenac and graduated from Frontenac High School in 1956. She also attended Kansas State Teachers College in Pittsburg. She married Norman L. Girard on Feb. 8, 1958 at Frontenac, Kansas. Mr. Girard preceded her in death on March 2, 2004. She was a member of the Frontenac United Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Lori (Ken) Steiner of Cedar Park, Texas, a son, Steve (Kristin) Girard of Joplin, Missouri, five grandchildren, Lesley, Gregory and Mackenzie Steiner and Jackson and Samuel Girard, and a great grandchild due in March. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister, Lois Towery and a brother, Kenneth Benedict. Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015 at the Bedene Funeral Home at Arma, Kansas with the Rev. Glenn Duderstadt officiating. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015 at the Pittsburg Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the Arma City Library.
