Description	:	Carrell C. Ritter, 77, of Kearney, formerly of Pleasanton, died Tuesday March 1, 2011 at his home in Kearney. Services will be at 3 p.m. at Pleasanton United Methodist Church with the Revs. Jerry Schwarz, Evie Gulachi-Johnson and Bill Ritter officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasanton cemetery. Ritter, 77, of Kearney, formerly of Pleasanton, died Tuesday March 1, 2011 at his home in Kearney. He was born January 4, 1934 in Pleasanton to Charles and Esther Rodehorst Ritter. On June 10, 1957, he married Dorothy Felts in Denver. He attended Sunflower School #23 in Buffalo County and graduated Pleasanton High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Denver when he met his wife of 53 years, Dorothy. The couple lived in Pleasanton for 48 years before moving to Kearney in 2008. He worked as a draftsman and an NC programmer, first at Rockwell Manufacturing then a Eaton Corp. He was a 64 year member of the Pleasanton United Methodist Church and served as church secretary after his retirement. Carrell loved travel and visited all 50 states as well as 27 foreign countries. Carrell and Dorothy enjoyed cruises and motor coach trips and followed the Husker football team to many bowl games. They often included children and grandchildren in their travels. He was a member of a bowling team that spanned five decades. He enjoyed golf and played and coached softball. He excelled at billiards and other sports, many of his own invention. Carrell's family appreciated his unique sense of humor and his ability to turn almost any task into a game. A natural teacher, he took pride in sharing a love to learning with his children and grandchildren. History and geography were favorites. He had a knack for solving puzzles and enjoyed playing card, board and trivia games. He approached life's challenges with creativity, courage and conviction. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Karla Ritter-Lindsay and her husband, Steve Lindsay, of Kearney, Cynthia Ritter and her husband, Thomas Labedz of Lincoln, and Janice Ritter and Tony Dillehay of Kearney; brother, Harold Ritter of Columbus; sister, Sharon Sand and her husband, Royal, of Loveland, Colorado; and grandchildren, Kaitlin Lindsay, Bryce Lindsay, Spencer Labedz and Celeste Labedz. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, A. Dale Ritter; and sister, Elda Mae Lange.
