Description	:	Carrie Belle Coltrain was born March 3, 1871, at Rexville, Steuben county, New York and passed away at the Warren Memorial hospital at Friend, Nebraska, on August 21, 1951, at the age of 80 years, 5 months, and 19 days. Read More	Carrie Belle Coltrain was born March 3, 1871, at Rexville, Steuben county, New York and passed away at the Warren Memorial hospital at Friend, Nebraska, on August 21, 1951, at the age of 80 years, 5 months, and 19 days. At an early age she came with her parents to the vicinity of Friend where her maternal grandparents had homesteaded some time before. The family later moved to McCook, Nebr., where homestead lands had just been opened. She attended the McCook academy. On March 4, 1889, she was married to Jefferson F. Mitchell at Wilber, Nebr., and they were privileged to enjoy the celebration of their golden wedding anniversary March 4, 1939. Living for some time on a farm south of Exeter, they later came to the farm north of Exeter in which they lived for many years, later retiring to Exeter. Mrs. Mitchell was of a quiet, unassuming nature and had many friends who appreciated her sterling qualities. She especially enjoyed handwork and reading which privileges were denied to her in later years by failing eyesight. Her health had failed gradually in recent months and the end came peacefully Tuesday afternoon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jefferson F. Mitchell, her son, William J., and her daughter Dorothy. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Ora Blouch, Denver, Colo., Mrs. Gladys Owens, Richland, Wash., and Mrs. Adda Biba of Exeter; three grandsons, one granddaughter, three great grandsons, her sister-in-law, Mrs. Cora Mitchell of Exeter, nieces and nephews and many friends. Funeral services were held Friday morning, August 24, at St. Stephens Catholic church in Exeter. Msgr. P. J. Healy officiated. Pallbearers were L. F. Barkmeier, Ed Schafer, John Spitz, P. E. Becker, Lloyd Coffey and A. B. Becker. Interment was in the Exeter cemetery. ----- In loving memory of my mother, Mrs. Belle Mitchell: Rest "O, Earth, lie lightly on her brow. Hushed in and curtained with a blessed dearth Of all that grieved her from the hour of birth, With stillness that is almost - Paradise, Darkness more clear than noonday holdest her, Silence sweeter than any song; Even her heart has ceased to stir; Until the Morning of Eternity, Her rest shall not begin or end, but be; And when she wakes she will not think it long!" --Ora Mitchell Blouch ----- Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Owens of Richland, Wash., who had been guests of the latter's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. James Biba, left Monday for their home. Mrs. Owens had been here for a few weeks to be near her mother Mrs. Belle Mitchell. Other relatives who came to the funeral of Mrs. Mitchell were Mr. and Mrs. Claude Gish, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Olmsted and Mr. and Mrs. George Friend of Friend and Mr. and Mrs. George Fish of Seward.
