Description	:	CARRIE C. JOHNSON Carried Christine Johnson was born on a farm south of Shenandoah, Page County, Iowa, on July 28, 1891, the daughter of Gustaf and Selma Ring Burg. She was one of five children. She died October 5, 1979, in Essex, Page County, Iowa, at the age of 88 years, two months, and seven days. She moved with her family to Fort Calhoun, Nebraska, when she was a youngster, and she and her family lived there for a short time before returning to Iowa. She grew up on a farm east of Essex. On March 12,... Read More	CARRIE C. JOHNSON Carried Christine Johnson was born on a farm south of Shenandoah, Page County, Iowa, on July 28, 1891, the daughter of Gustaf and Selma Ring Burg. She was one of five children. She died October 5, 1979, in Essex, Page County, Iowa, at the age of 88 years, two months, and seven days. She moved with her family to Fort Calhoun, Nebraska, when she was a youngster, and she and her family lived there for a short time before returning to Iowa. She grew up on a farm east of Essex. On March 12, 1919, she was married to Edwin O. Johnson at the Essex Evangelical Covenant Church. Following their marriage, she and her husband farmed near Essex until they moved to town in 1967 after retirement. She was baptized and confirmed in St. John's Lutheran Church as a child. Following her marriage, she transferred her membership to the Fremont Covenant Church where she was a member until her death. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Carl Burg; and her husband, Edwin in 1968. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Reuel (Esther) Abraham of Red Oak, Iowa; two brothers, Clarence Burg of Red Oak, Iowa and Donald Bengston of Essex, Iowa; and a number of other relatives. Funeral services held at 2 P.M., October 8, 1979, at the Fremont Covenant Church in Page County. The Rev. Vernon Luiten officiated and interment was in the Essex Cemetery. Hackett Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Information found in The Shenandoah Evening Sentinel, Wednesday, October 17, 1979.
