Carrie Edith Thompson Westenburg was born April 18, 1925 in Gus, Iowa the daughter of Ray and Eva Marie(West) Thompson. Carrie was united in marriage to Harlan Westenburg on November 11, 1948 in Bentonville, Arkansas. They lived in Emerson, Iowa for several years before being transferred with the Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America to Lovington, New Mexico. Read More	Carrie Westenburg, age 75, of Pineville, North Carolina passed away Friday, February 23, 2001 at her residence in Pineville. Carrie Edith Thompson Westenburg was born April 18, 1925 in Gus, Iowa the daughter of Ray and Eva Marie(West) Thompson. Carrie was united in marriage to Harlan Westenburg on November 11, 1948 in Bentonville, Arkansas. They lived in Emerson, Iowa for several years before being transferred with the Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America to Lovington, New Mexico. Carrie spent most of her life taking care of her husband and family. One of her greatest joys was knitting sweaters on her knitting machine. When Harlan retired in 1985 they spent many good years traveling and enjoying their trailer until Harlan passed away on July 2, 1997. Carrie recently moved to North Carolina to be close to her daughter. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Star in Lovington, New Mexico Carrie was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan in 1997; son, Lee in 1991, and two brothers, Lawrence and Earl Thompson. Survivors include her two sons, Eldon Westenburg and his wife Ruth of Houston, Texas and Ron Westenburg and his wife Debbie of Amarillo, Texas; two daughters, Pam Nelson and her husband Melvin of Burlington, Colorado and Patricia Crawley and her husband Phillip of Weddington, North Carolina; eleven grandchildren, four great grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Gray of Sedona, Arizona and Edith Smith of Nevada, Iowa; brother, Wayne Thompson of Washington State; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2001 at the Emerson United Methodist Church with the Rev. Max Hall officiating. Burial was in the Emerson Iowa Cemetery. There was open visitation at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Emerson United Methodist Church. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel was in charge of the arrangements. Fremont-Mills Becon Enterprise, March 1, 2001
