Carrie Ethyl Bunting, daughter of O.D. and Margaret Ann Bunting, was born December 1, 1882 in Marion County, Iowa and passed away January 21, 1977 at the Good Samaritan Home in Villisca, Iowa, at the age of 94 years, 1 month and 20 days. Carrie Ethyl Bunting, daughter of O.D. and Margaret Ann Bunting, was born December 1, 1882 in Marion County, Iowa and passed away January 21, 1977 at the Good Samaritan Home in Villisca, Iowa, at the age of 94 years, 1 month and 20 days. While still quite young, she moved with her parents to a farm north of Corning where she attended public school and grew to adulthood. She later served as a teacher in rural schools of Adams County. On March 14, 1907 she was united in marriage with Harvey Edward Richards. Three children were born to bless their union. Two of these children, Freida and Oris, died in infancy. The third was their son, Vern. The young couple first lived for two years in the Lincoln Center community before moving near Bridgewater where they remained until Mr. Richards' death in 1944. Since that time Carrie had devoted her life to taking care of the elderly, living with a number of different families in the process until age and declining health no longer made this possible. She was a lifelong member of the Baptist church. Carrie was preceded in death by her husband, an infant daughter and son, four brothers and one sister. Surviving to mourn her passing are her son Vern and wife Myrtle of rural Bridgewater; three grandchildren: Irene Lyda and husband Robert of Waterloo, Iowa; Rose Ann Richards of Omaha, Nebraska; Martin Richards and wife Nita, also of Omaha; two great-grandchildren Andrew Lee Lyda and Clint Matthew Richards; a sister, Mrs. Eva Bradley, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held at the Ewing Funeral Home in Fontanelle, Monday, Jan. 24 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. James King officiating. Burial was in Forest Hill Cemetery at Mt. Etna. Music was provided by Mrs. Don Crill. Flowerbearers were Mrs. Ernest Ford, Mrs. Earl Lydon and Mrs. Robert Bagshaw. Pallbearers were Lawrence Ford, Ernest Ford, Kenneth Bunting, James Wyllie, Maurice Kembery and Bob DeVore. [Adams County Free Press (Corning, Iowa). Thursday, January 27, 1977.
