Read More	Fullerton Post (Fullerton, Nebr.), July 14, 1910, p. 1, col. 6 OBITUARY Carrie Gertrude, daughter of Andrew and Melinda Jackson, was born in Vallisca, Jefferson County, Ia., November 13th, 1876, and died at her home in Belgrade, Nebr., July 12th, 1910, aged 33 years, 7 months and 22 days. On the 4th day of July, 1901, she was joined in marriage to E. D. Mastin in Fullerton Nebraska. She leaves besides the sorrowing husband and four children, a mother, two sisters and two brothers, to mourn the loss of a loved one. Her father and two sisters have proceeded her to the spirit land. She was converted in her own home a little over twelve years ago, while the song, "Save One" was being sung. It was her request that that song, and "There's Not a Friend Like The Lowly Jesus", be sung at her funeral service. She united with the United Evangelical Church, afterwards joining the Methodist Episcopal Church in Belgrade, in order to be with her husband. It was her desire to be buried from the Evangelical Church at Fullerton. Her health has not been good for over two years. She was lovingly cared for during her last illness by her mother and husband. Disease had fastened itself upon her and she was not strong enough to conquer. She was ready and willing to go and seemed to be greeting loved ones who had passed on before her, calling them by name. A short service was held at the home, and the burial took place from the Evangelical Church in Fullerton, on Wednesday forenoon July 13th, at 11 o'clock conducted by her pastor, Rev. E. E. Shaffer of Belgrade, assisted by the Rev. T. M. Evans pastor of the Fullerton Evangelical church and Rev. W. T. Randolph of Belgrade. How often to our aching hearts The path seems sad and lone; How oft we stand beside the clay Whence some loved one has flown; If 'twere not for the word of God, That tells of life above, How could we live when thus bereft Of those whom we most love? But some day on that golden shore Where our loved ones have flown We'll join the happy ransom throng And know as we are known, What tho our tears fall thick and fast, In God is all our trust!
