Coquillette Death came again to one of the city's very oldest families on Thursday evening, claiming the life of Mrs. Carrie Miller Coquillette, daughter of Henry Miller, founder of this town. She died at her home 4th and Hand sts, after several weeks of illness. Deceased was one of the few remaining ladies prominent as girls in the early day life of Miller. She was in business here for several years and had a wide circle of friends throughout the county. She was a devout member of the M.E. church, and for years had charge of the church music. She was an accomplished musician, and some of her songs were obtained for phonograph record by her husband, who is a music dealer. By her request one of these songs "The Broken Chord" was played at the family service at home, prior to the public service at the M.E. church, where a large congregation gathered. Services were conducted by the pastor Rev. Kearton, assisted by Rev. Cooper, pastor of the Presbyterian church. Pastor Kearton paid a very eloquent tribute to this Christian lady and pioneer member of his church, and friends covered the casket with flowers. The pall bearers were lady friends of her girlhood days, and some of her old choirmates were in the choir. Carrie Asbereen Miller, daughter of Henry and Nancy Miller, was born at Blairstown, Benton Co., Iowa, Feb. 22nd, 1867, died at her home in Miller, April 15th, 1915, aged 48 years. Deceased had 9 brothers and one sister. Two brothers and the sister died in childhood. One brother W.H. died in Miller, on the 10th of Feb., 1892, E.J. lives in San Diego, Ca.; Charles lives in Scottsdale, Arizona; Benton lives at Blairstown, Iowa; J.D., J.M. and E.L. all reside in Miller. She was married to P.H. Coquilette June 26th, 1889. To this union two sons were born, Frank M., who resides in Miler, and Frances Fay, who died in infancy. After their marriage they left Hand Co. for Iowa, returning to S. Dak. in 1892. The husband and son Frank survive her. Funeral services were held in the M.E. church and the remains buried in the city cemetery on Saturday afternoon. ~~~~~~~ *Husband P.H.
