Description	:	Mrs. Charles D. Roberts, nee Miss Carrie Stewart, daughter of the late John D. Stewart, died this morning at five o'clock. She had been sick since July, but not considered dangerously so until two months ago. Then she left her home at Hinton, West Virginia, and came to Monroe to be under the direct care of her brother, Dr. H. D. Stewart. Read More	Mrs. Charles D. Roberts, nee Miss Carrie Stewart, daughter of the late John D. Stewart, died this morning at five o'clock. She had been sick since July, but not considered dangerously so until two months ago. Then she left her home at Hinton, West Virginia, and came to Monroe to be under the direct care of her brother, Dr. H. D. Stewart. But then it was seen that her case was near hopeless, though she got some better at first after returning to her old home. Surrounded by her brothers and sisters, husband and other relatives and friends, she passed peacefully away this morning. The funeral will be held in the Methodist church tomorrow at half past two, by the pastor. The pall bearers will be Messrs. Pickett McLarty, Walter Crowell, M. C. Broom, Dr. Redfearn, Dr. Stevens, Capt. S. H. Greene, Charles Long and C. T. Hallman. The interment will be in the family plat in the Monroe cemetery. The deceased was a very bright, as well as a most lovable young woman. Had she reached her next birthday on January the 12th, she would have been thrirty years old. She was a graduate of Virginia College, both in the literary and music departments, in the latter of which she made the highest mark ever made in the college. Returning home she began a successful career as a teacher. She was a long time organist at Central Methodist church, of which she was a faithful member since the age of twelve years. On June 17th, 1903, she was married to Mr. Charles D. Roberts of West Virginia, and went to make that State her home. When she came to Monroe two months ago her husband got indefinite leave of absence from his position as locomotive engineer and came with her. One child, a sweet little girl of two and a half years, is left. Besides these there are several brothers and sisters to mourn her loss. They are Mesdames S. B. Bundy, J. D. Futch, W. s. Nelson, J. W. Ashcraft, Dr. H. D. Stewart, Messrs. W. C. and J. E. Stewart, and Miss Lucy Stewart. The Monroe Journal Tuesday, December 18, 1906 Page 3
