Memorial contributions may be directed to the Salem United Methodist Church in Sutton or the Sutton Community Home. Carrol was born June 5, 1933, in Sutton, to Lloyd and Edith (Pontine) Reutzel. He received his education in Sutton and graduated from Sutton High School. He enlisted in the United States Army on May 8, 1953, and served his country in Korea before he was honorably discharged on April 20, 1955. On Sept. 30, 1955, he married Patsy Peters in McCool Junction, and they had recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. They lived and farmed in the Sutton and O'Neill areas for many years. In 1973, he began employment at the Meat Animal Research Center in Clay Center, retiring in 1997 after 24 years. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Sutton for over 50 years, the Nebraska Dairy Goat Association, and the American Legion Argonne Post #61 in Sutton. Carrol helped with 4-H at the Clay County Fair and was a judge for the dairy goats. He enjoyed polka music, model railroads, was a horse enthusiast and was very knowledgeable about the community of Sutton and the communities past. He is survived by his wife, Patsy, of Sutton; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Cynthia Reutzel, of Harvard; daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and David Stuckey, of Grafton, Diann and William Weese, of Grand Island, daughter, Janet McLean, of Columbus; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Ardell and Lillian Reutzel, of Topeka, Kan.; sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Ron King, of Trumbull; and sister-in-law, Glenda Reutzel, of Atkinson. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gary and Harlan; and an infant son, Timothy.
