Carroll "Charlie" Arthur Kant was born August 25, 1919, in Platte County to Fred and Minnie (Grotelueschen) Kant. Carroll was baptized on September 21, 1919, at Christ Lutheran Church, and confirmed on April 9, 1933, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Read More	Carroll Arthur "Charlie" Kant, 92, of Columbus, died Sunday, April 1, 2012, at his home in Columbus. Carroll "Charlie" Arthur Kant was born August 25, 1919, in Platte County to Fred and Minnie (Grotelueschen) Kant. Carroll was baptized on September 21, 1919, at Christ Lutheran Church, and confirmed on April 9, 1933, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Carroll attended rural Platte County School and Immanuel Lutheran School. On February 25, 1941, Carroll entered the United States Army during World War II serving in Panama and New Guinea. Carroll was honorably discharged on August 26, 1945. On January 26, 1947, Carroll was united in marriage to Leona Otte at Christ Lutheran Church. For over 40 years, Carroll worked for Roger Tractor and Implement which later became Columbus Irrigation. Carroll was a charter member of Peace Lutheran Church where he had served on various boards. He was a member of the Lutheran Layman League, American Legion, and the Disabled American Vets. After retirement Carroll enjoyed helping family and friends with home projects. He enjoyed yard work, gardening, and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren which were a true blessing to him. Carroll is survived by: wife, Leona Kant of Columbus; daughter, Chris (Pete) Hollman of Hallam; granddaughter, Sara (Ivan) Sublett of Scandia, Kan.; great-grandchildren, Erica and Ethan Sublett; granddaughter, Tricia (Troy) Novak of Dorchester; great-grandchildren, Alli and Max Novak; grandson, Jeff (Cathy) Hollman of Crete; great-grandchild, Nick Hollman; Son, Richard (Cindy) Kant of York; grandson, Erich (Suise) Kant of Lincoln; great-grandchild, Harper Kant; grandson, Michael (Lindsay) Kant of Lincoln; sister, Margaret (Raymond) Wilke of Columbus; sister, Hilda Bakenhus of Columbus; sister, Mildred (Jim) Rickert of Columbus. Carroll was preceded in death by: parents, Fred and Minnie Kant; brother, Elvin Kant and brother-in-law, Marvin Bakenhus. Published York New Times 04/03/2012
