Description	:	Carroll D. Fisher, 75, of rural Garwin, died unexpectedly on Friday, February 25th, at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center Emergency Room. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 1st, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastors Bobby Shomo and Corvin Seltzer officating. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation 6-8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Curt Balmer, Bradley, Ray and Dean Fisher, Dale Wilkerson, Kendall Starits, Dennis Walker and Gary Bumsted. A message in music will be by Jan Randall and Bobby Shomo. Born on July 14th, 1929, in rural Montour, he was the son of Laurin and Velma (Wintrowd) Fisher. He graduated from the Montour High School where he played basketball - going to state twice. On December 18th, 1951, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Belle Heintz, the daughter of Wm. CHarles and Alice (Parsons) Heintz, at the Baptist Temple in Marshalltown. They spent 2 years in Texas and moved back to farm on the family farm where they live today. He was a longtime farmer and with his wife owned and operated Rose Hill memorial Gardens until their retirement in 1996 after 43 years. Carroll was a member of the Carlton Brethren Church, board of the Tama Livestock Auction, the Association of Iowa Cemeteries (as president and one of the first admitted into their hall of fame), and the Garwin Amercian Legion. He played softball for the Rose Hill team and the Carlton Brethren Team, loved to go fishing and deer hunting and spent most of his summers in Minnesota at Lake Pepin. Surviving him are his wife of 53 years, Dorothy, daughters Susan (Marty) Mitchell, Jeanne Fisher, grandchildren Stephanie (Curt) Balmer and Myles Carroll-Dean Mitchell, brother Gerald (Mary Etta) Fisher and nices and nephews. In death he has rejoined his parents, brothers Belmond and Duane and sister Gwendolyn Thompson.
