Byrd, well known and highly regarded Lawsonia resident, died suddenly at his home Thursday evening of last week. He had been under the doctor's care for about six months with a heart condition. He was 68 years of age. Born near Crisfield, he was the son of Mrs. Jennie Ward Byrd and the late Jessie W. Byrd. He had been associated with the Star Baking Company for 25 years, retiring several years ago, and was a member of the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Lawsonia. A quiet, unassuming, friendly Man, he was held in high esteem by all who knew him. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Bradshaw- Covington Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Charles L. Engrem, pastor of the Pilgrim Holiness Church, assisted by the Rev. Charles L. Trader, pastor of the Methodist Church at Vienna, Md. Burial was in Asbury Cemetery. Bearers were George Todd, Arthur Carmine, Buddy Carmine, Jesse Carmine, Douglas Chelton and Howard Hitchens of Salisbury. Surviving him are his mother, five children, Gene Byrd of Vienna, Miss Evelyn Byrd, Mrs. Elaine Hitehens, and Mrs. Virginia Smullen of Salisbury, and Roy Lawson of Washington, D.
