He was born November 12, 1947, a son of the late Nelson Carrington Kidd and Mary Catherine Fitzgerald Kidd. He retired as a Maintenance Operations Manager for VDOT, was a United States Army Vietnam Veteran, past president of the Massies Mill Ruritan Club, and was a member of the Harley Davidson Group. He was born November 12, 1947, a son of the late Nelson Carrington Kidd and Mary Catherine Fitzgerald Kidd. He retired as a Maintenance Operations Manager for VDOT, was a United States Army Vietnam Veteran, past president of the Massies Mill Ruritan Club, and was a member of the Harley Davidson Group. He is survived by his wife Vickie Ward Kidd; two sons, Michael Wayne Kidd and his wife, Becky, of Staunton, Nathan Carroll Kidd of Harrisonburg; one daughter, Jamie Elizabeth Deacon and her husband, Jeff, of Amherst; four brothers, Jimmy and his wife, Jane, Ray and his wife, Cheryl, Clay and his wife, Sherry, Tony and his wife, Diane; one sister, Cathy and her husband, Donnie; one granddaughter, Madison Rayne; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Samantha Faith Deacon. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2009, at Jonesboro Baptist Church by the Reverend Wayne Underwood. Burial with military honors will follow at Jonesboro Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Byrum-Parr Funeral Home from 7 until 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2009, and at other times at the home of his brother, Jimmy and his wife, Jane. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Samantha Faith Deacon, to RTS Bereavement, Virginia Baptist Hospital, 3300 Rivermont Avenue, Lynchburg, VA 24505.
