Mr. Guenther was born February 28, 1891, in West Point, to Fred and Katherine (Ortmeier) Guenther, and married Anna Hendricks September 21, 1915, in Crofton. He had lived at Crofton since 1911 and was a farmer. He was a member of the board of directors of the Yankton, S.D., Production Credit Association from 1948 to 1969, the board of trustees for Eastern Township of Knox County, the Catholic Foresters and the Holy Name Society. Survivors include the Widow; four daughters, Mrs. Daniel (Eileen) Crespo of Stockton, Calif., Mrs. Dean {Jo Ann} Nelson of Hartington, Mrs. Dean (Betty Lou) Helms of Lake Oswego, Ore., and Mrs.Kenneth (Carol) Prebay of Bridgeport, Mich.; six sons, Elmer of Aumsville,Ore., Arthur of Fall River, Wis., Lawrence of Reeseville, Wis., Earl of Columbus, Wis., and Norbert and Norman, both of Crofton; two brothers, Joseph of Columbus, Wis., and Fritz of Crofton; 60 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Mr. Guenther was preceded in death by a daughter and son and six brothers. The Wintz Funeral Home handled the arrangements. Casper Guenther, the second child of nine children (all boys) was born in 1891 in West Point, NE. He moved to Crofton in 1911 and married Anna Hendricks, whose family moved to the Crofton community from Earling, la, in 1914. Their marriage vows were exchanged at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Crofton, September 21, 1915. Children born into the Casper Guenther family were: Elmer of Detroit, OR; Earl (deceased) lived in Columbus, WI: Arthur of Fall River, WI; Mildred (Mrs. Herman Schmid) (deceased), lived in Sublimity, OR; Lawrence (deceased) lived in Reeseville, WI; Eileen (Mrs.Daniel Crespo) of Stockton, CA; Norman and Norbert (twins) living north-west of Crofton; JoAnn (Mrs. Dean Nelson) of Harlington; Betty (Mrs. Dean Helms)of Lake Oswego, OR; Carol (Mrs. Ken Prebay) of Bridgeport, Ml; and Richard,who died as an infant, Casper (also known as Cap) and Anna, both deceased, lived their entire married life of 60 years in the Crofton community and were members of St. Rose of Lima Church. In addition to farming, the family operated The Crofton Dairy which thrived in the community of Crofton for pproximately 13 years starting in the middle 30's.
