Description	:	Cassie Leona Foster, age 99, of Ankeny, -Iowa, died on February 21, 1997 at the Urbandale Health Care Center in Urbandale, Iowa. Services were held Tuesday, February 25, 1997 at Hamilton's in Des Moines, Iowa. Interment was at the Guss Cemetery near Guss, Iowa. Cassie was born near Guss, in Taylor County on October 22, 1897 to Fred and Mary Josephine (Cady) Else. She earned a teaching degree at Indianola, Iowa and taught four years at country schools. Read More	Cassie Leona Foster, age 99, of Ankeny, -Iowa, died on February 21, 1997 at the Urbandale Health Care Center in Urbandale, Iowa. Services were held Tuesday, February 25, 1997 at Hamilton's in Des Moines, Iowa. Interment was at the Guss Cemetery near Guss, Iowa. Cassie was born near Guss, in Taylor County on October 22, 1897 to Fred and Mary Josephine (Cady) Else. She earned a teaching degree at Indianola, Iowa and taught four years at country schools. She married Dale Foster on September 11, 1920 in Clarinda. After farming several years they moved to Elmo, Missouri where Dale ran a gas station and Cassie operated a hair salon. In 1928 they decided to move back to Iowa and raise their children on a farm. In 1944 they bought the farm near Sharpsburg. Dale died September 13, 1959 and Cassie moved to Ankeny where she became "Grandmother" to more than thirty of her neighbor children, she was a very kind, caring and loving person. Her hobbies were gardening, cooking, reading and working crossword puzzles. She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters: Myrtle Corbin, Bessie Lewis and Erma Closer, and four brothers; Archie, Lester, Victor and Francis and one grandson; Kevin Foster. She is survived by one sister, Winnie Spring of Lenox, Iowa; her two sons and their wives, Keith and Ann Foster of Beaufort, South Carolina and Gene and Darlene Foster of Ankeny; her two daughters and husbands, Janice and Hal Severn of San Luis Obispo, California and Joanne and Paul Chitty of Bella Vista, Arkansas. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Kenneth Black, Earl Lewis, Hal Severn, Leslie Jackson, Paul Oxley and Paul Chitty Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Keith Wilson, Everett Hickle, Rex Devine, Jim Lewis, Gordon Sturm and Erwin Aswegan.
