Description	:	Mr. Hopkins was born in April 1861 to parents Levin Selby Hopkins and wife Martha H. Prettyman in Delaware. His parents had been married in Delaware 13 June 1848. By 1870 when Cassius was 9, the family had moved to Oregon, Starke, Indiana and consisted of the following family members with Levin and all of his children having been born in Delaware: Levin age 52 and wife Martha Hopkins 40 and their children William 21, Virginia 18, Elizabeth 15, Sally 12, Cassius 9, George 6, Anna 3 and Victor 2/12. In 1875 the family was living... Read More	Mr. Hopkins was born in April 1861 to parents Levin Selby Hopkins and wife Martha H. Prettyman in Delaware. His parents had been married in Delaware 13 June 1848. By 1870 when Cassius was 9, the family had moved to Oregon, Starke, Indiana and consisted of the following family members with Levin and all of his children having been born in Delaware: Levin age 52 and wife Martha Hopkins 40 and their children William 21, Virginia 18, Elizabeth 15, Sally 12, Cassius 9, George 6, Anna 3 and Victor 2/12. In 1875 the family was living in Lincoln precinct, Lancaster County, Nebraska. Children still residing with their parents included Sarah, George, Cassius and Anna. A new baby May, born in Nebraska was 10 months old at the time of the 1875 census. By the 1880 census, the family had moved to Scott township, Fremont County, Iowa. In the 1885 census the family resided in the same township. The children that still resided with their parents were "Cash", George, Anna and May. In 1900 Cassius was living with his widowed mother and a niece Kate Thompson age 17. Before the 1910 census, Cassius was married to Sarah Frances Allen born in Kentucky, the daughter of John Allen and wife Alice (Johnson). They had the following 2 children, Mildred Allen Hopkins who was born about 1909 and Clay Hopkins who was born about 1911. In 1915 "Cash" was working as a merchant and still residing in Scott township, Fremont, Iowa He continued as a merchant in a general store in 1920. In the 1930 census Cassius was listed as a salesman for a general store with he, wife "Fanny" and son Clay still residing in the same household. Mr. Hopkins passed away in 1934 with his last known address being in Fremont County, Iowa. He preceded his wife and 2 children in death and was buried in the Thurman Cemetery in Fremont County, Iowa. In 1965, Sarah Frances Hopkins was buried next to her husband. (Info from ancestry.com)
