Description	:	Catherine Brown, daughter of Charles and Mary Hunt, was born in Lebanon, Warren county, Ohio, March 5, 1830. At 9 years of age she came with her parents to Union county, Ind., were in 1847 she was married to John Brown. To this union ten children were born. They moved in 1860 to Potomac, Ill., after a residence of a few months in Fountain county, Ind. Read More	Catherine Brown, daughter of Charles and Mary Hunt, was born in Lebanon, Warren county, Ohio, March 5, 1830. At 9 years of age she came with her parents to Union county, Ind., were in 1847 she was married to John Brown. To this union ten children were born. They moved in 1860 to Potomac, Ill., after a residence of a few months in Fountain county, Ind. Mr. Brown died in 1872, leaving the responsibility of caring for a large family of children upon Mrs. Brown, This responsibility she met with a brave heart and a true mother’s devotions, never complaining of her own hard lot, but always looking to every interest of her family. She kept the family together and by precept and example gave to them right principles of noble and pure manhood and womanhood. Not one of them deserted her parental care until fretter for life’s battles in their own strength. For the past few years she has lived in Monon. About four years ago she broke up housekeeping and visited more with her children but made her home with her daughter, Mrs. A.D. Hornbeck. On her 82nd birthday a family reunion was held in her honor at which 46 relatives were present. Mrs. Brown was 82 years, 1 month,and 1 day old at the time of her death. Five of her children preceded her in death. The living children are Francis C Morris of Potomac, Ill., Mrs. A. D. Hornbeck, B. H. Brown, John G. Brown, and A. T. Brown of Monon, She leaves besides these, one brother, Nelson Hunt of Darlington, Ind., and three sisters, Jane Rose of Wabash, Ind., Margaret McIntyre of Crawfordsville, Ind., and Mrs. Mariah Steel of the Soldiers’ Home, LaFayette, Ind. Twenty-nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, most of whom were present at the funeral besides 7 nieces and 2 nephews were present. Mrs. Brown was a life long devoted member of the M.E. church and a thorough christian.
