Description	:	Catharine Williams married Thomas Holmes in Lancashire on May 7, 1837. Catharine and Thomas Holmes had a large family. When they immigrated to the United States in 1850, they had seven living children: Mary Ellen, John C., Sarah, Thomas, William, Anne, and Jennie (who was an infant). They arrived in New York on the Guy Mannering, and then they moved to Milwaukee. Catharine remarried a married a... Read More	Catharine Williams married Thomas Holmes in Lancashire on May 7, 1837. Catharine and Thomas Holmes had a large family. When they immigrated to the United States in 1850, they had seven living children: Mary Ellen, John C., Sarah, Thomas, William, Anne, and Jennie (who was an infant). They arrived in New York on the Guy Mannering, and then they moved to Milwaukee. They only lived in Milwaukee for a year or two before moving to Detroit, Michigan, and then to Calhoun County (Michigan). They had another child, Addie, born in Michigan in 1854. Catharine remarried a married a man from Burlington, Michigan, named Ephraim Leach a year later. He was a recent widower with two young children. When the Civil War broke out, Ephraim joined the Second Volunteer Cavalry in Missouri, fighting for the Union. He died on November 20, 1863. All three of her sons also joined the Union during the Civil War. John C. was a drummer for an Illinois Regiment. William and Thomas Jr. were sharp shooters in a Michigan Regiment. Her son, Thomas, died in 1864, killed from a gun shot wound to the femur. In 1865, she married James W. Squier of Pennsylvania. By 1880, they were living separately. He had moved back to New York, where he was born, and she was living back in Michigan with her children. He lists his marital status as "divorced." In the 1900 Census, she lists that she had 13 children in her lifetime. Seven of them were still living (Mary Ellen, John C., Sarah, William, Anne, Jane, and Addie). Her other children are unknown. During the last years of her life, she lived with her daughter, Anna, and her son-in-law, Lyman Ogden in Union City, Michigan.
