Born In 1870 Catherine Margaretha Alwine was born on Aug. 7, 1870, in Wayne Township, the daughter of Henrich and Anna Doering. As a child she attended Black Oak school to the eighth grade. She was confirmed April 18, 1886, in Wayne Zion Lutheran church. She was united in marriage to William Reiken Zimmerman, Feb. 25, 1890, at Wayne church. Five daughters were born to this union. They celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary Feb. 25, 1940. Lived In Amber In the spring of 1919 they moved to Amber, where they lived until death. She was a life long member of Wayne Zion Lutheran church. Survivors are her daughters, Mrs. Paul Hanken, Marion S. Dak., Mrs. Arthur T. Carlson, Camanche; Mrs. William T. Jansen, Amber; Mrs. O. F. Otten, Sioux Falls, S. Dak., and Mrs. Alva Gerdes, Amber. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; her sisters, Mrs. Herman Collman Zimmerman, Amber, Mrs. John Rickels, Monticello, and Mrs. Dick Bohlken, Monticello, her brothers, Herman, Fred, Will and John Collman. Preceding her death besides her husband was a sister, Mrs. Rev. J. A. Young and a brother, Albert Doering.
