Description	:	The funeral for Catherine Jessen age 83, is being held today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at Elmdale Lutheran Church, Niobe, with burial in Lakeview Cemetery. Mrs. Jessen died on Saturday, November 1st in Kenmare Community Hospital. During the service, Rev. David Bernhardt officiated; Mrs. Ilene Mickelson was organist and Bud Carlson. She was born January 7, 1903, in Madison, MN, to Michael and Mary Bendel. In 1916, she came with her family to Elmdale Township, Ward County, near Niobe, and the family farmed in that area. She was born January 7, 1903, in Madison, MN, to Michael and Mary Bendel. In 1916, she came with her family to Elmdale Township, Ward County, near Niobe, and the family farmed in that area. She married Frances E. Jessen in Minot November 25, 1925, and they farmed in the Niobe area. They moved to Niobe in 1951 and continued farming until retiring in 1963. He died May 31, 1973. She remained in Niobe until entering the Baptist Home in Kenmare in May 1984, and then the Skilled Care Unit of the Kenmare Hospital in August, 1985. She was a member of Elmdale Lutheran Church and the Elmdale Homemakers. She was survived by son, Robert, Auburn, WA; daughters, Lorraine Johnson and Marilyn Smith, both Kenmare, Janette Durham, Williston; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Markhus, Fort Meyers, FL; sisters, Ann Gorman, Veronica Walsch and Antonia Johnson, all of Minneapolis, MN, Mary Bendel and Agatha Sherratt, both of Ketchum, ID.
