Geary, 73, 916 Delaware N.E., died early Monday morning at a Mason City nursing home. She had lived in Mason City since 1952. Mrs. Geary was born Aug. 4, 1885, at Stoughton, Wisc., daughter of James and Ann (Reilly) Rooney. The family moved to Iowa in 1900 and settled on a farm in Dougherty Township. She was married to Michael P. Geary in February 1914 at Dougherty. The family lived on a farm in Scott Township, Floyd County, until retiring in 1951. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Royal Neighbors Lodge. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Walter (Marie) Ewen; a grandson, Larry Ewen; and two granddaughters, Marianne and Jeanne Ewen, all of Mason City. Four sisters, Sister Mary Sacred Heart, Whittemore, and the Misses Rose, Ann and Gertrude Rooney, all of Montebello, Calif.; and a brother, James Rooney, Rockwell, also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael, in December 1953. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Friends may call at the Colonial Funeral Chapel from Tuesday morning until the time of services. -------------------------- Globe Gazette Mason City, Iowa Friday, 19 December 1958 MRS. GEARY RITES HELD Solemn requiem high Mass was celebrated for Mrs. Michael (Catherine) Geary, 74, Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. A.J. Breen was celebrant and gave the sermon. The Rev. Donald Hawes was deacon and the Rev. John Stark, sub-deacon. Acolytes were John Smith and John Dougherty. Thurifer was John Moss and censer bearer, Eddy O'Connor. Present in the sanctuary were the Rev. Leo Logan, of St. Cecelia's Catholic Church of New Hampton, who gave the absolution at the grave, and the Rev. Philip Dailey, pastor of St. Michael's Catholic Church of Whittemore. P.W. Minert was usher at the church. Pallbearers were Walter Murphy, E.G. Dougherty, William Kegney, Ed Noss and George Staudt, all of Dougherty, and Hank McGaheran of Rockwell. Burial was in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery at Dougherty. The Colonial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
