Description	:	VAN SLYKE, CATHERINE ELIZABETH — Catherine Elizabeth Huston was born at Richland Center, Ind., November 21, 1843. She joined the United Brethren church when she was thirteen years old. She was married to Daniel Van Slyke, July 3, 1863 and after her marriage, united with the Methodist church. To this union were born five children, four daughters and one son. Read More	VAN SLYKE, CATHERINE ELIZABETH — Catherine Elizabeth Huston was born at Richland Center, Ind., November 21, 1843. She joined the United Brethren church when she was thirteen years old. She was married to Daniel Van Slyke, July 3, 1863 and after her marriage, united with the Methodist church. To this union were born five children, four daughters and one son. In the fall of 1873, she came to Nebraska and lived on a homestead two miles north of Geneva. Mr. Van Slyke died twenty-eight years ago. The past six year Mrs. Van Slyke has lived in Geneva. She was a faithful Christian and made the remark that she hoped this would be her last illness, and that she would not be ill long. Her illness lasted about three weeks. She leaves one son, Dr. Leslie Guy Van Slyke of Hyattville, Wyo.; three daughters, Mrs. Mattie Tichenor of San Francisco, Mrs. Lida Rodgers of Fremont, and Mrs. Estella Jewell of Davenport. One daughter, Mrs. Elsie Billings of Omaha died last September. Mrs. Van Slyke is also survived by three brothers Frank and John Huston of Altamont, Kas., and Adam Huston of Geneva; one brother-in-law, six sisters-in-lay, ten grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
