DAR #196840 add 167 supplemental 1925 Helen Virginia Harper states Nicholas Frye born 1748 Frederick Co MD died Mar. 23, 1840 and 1st wife Catherine born 1749 died Aug 22 1789 had dau. Catherine Frye born Aug 22 1789 and died Oct. 22, 1879 who married John J. Johnson born Oct 18 1879 and died Jan 1. 1875. No marriage date given. Reference said Catherine Frye mentioned in Family Bible of Mrs. Daniel Harper as dau. of Nicholas Frye and his first wife, name not mentioned. Uses as sources the pension and some other records all of which I have not copied yet. DAR #334910 application 1942 Minnie Harper says same information but includes marriage date of John J. Johnson and Catherine Frye of 10/28/1814. DAR #422364 application 1954 Anna H. DeWitt lists same information but now gives Catherine Schmecter and marriage date of 8/20/1769 and says Catherine died 8/22/1789 written by a different pen. Sources claimed on this one now refers to Family Bible at 1852 Col. Road which happens to be Minnie Harper's address and she was also the sponsor. Also refers to tombstones at Bethel Cemetery for John and Catherine which I have not found in the published records but will visit this summer myself. DAR #592858 Margaret J. Hart 1974 is much later so I won't comment but the sources and references state they were checked against F.C. which means Filing Cabinet but I went to the DAR this month and they said they found no file but was told to check back as it could be pulled, misfiled, etc. I will check again in May. SAR #39841 Franklin W. Harper sister of Minnie above submitted application in 1924 and claimed same information Nicholas Frye and his first wife (unnamed) had dau. Catherine Frye and her husband John J. Johnson and gives their birth and death dates and marriage date. Refers to similar sources that sister Minnie used. SAR #141368 John Mullen 1993 from (John) Nicholas Fry and (Anna) Margaret Ansel through son Martin. References pension and #39841.
