CENSUS: 1840 census: male 50-59 John Johnson male 10-14 George W. female 50-59 Catharine Fry (Frey) female 15-19 Mary Catharine female 10-14 Virginia (who married Julius Harper - their tombstones also at Bethel) He surmised that Mary Catharine abt 20 years old was working as a domestic for some other family. John Johnson obtained bounty land and pension. Widow also obtained pension after his death on Jan. 1, 1875. He served as a Private and then Sergeant in Capt. Thomas Wilkinson's Co, VA Militia having signed up on April 6, 1813 and served until Oct 16, 1813 having served a full 6 months per his statements. Surviving pay receipts show service from April 29 1813 to May 30 1813 as private and as 4th Sergeant from May 31 1813 to Oct 14, 1813. He applied for and was granted a Bounty Land Warrant.
