Description	:	Mrs Joseph O'Rourke, Sr., died at her home in Monticello at one o'clock last Sunday afternoon, following an illness of a year. She had seemed to be as well as usual that morning, and the end was unexpected. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 9:30 o'clock, conducted by the Rev Father A L Lorenz at the Sacred Heart Cemetery north of Monticello. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 9:30 o'clock, conducted by the Rev Father A L Lorenz at the Sacred Heart Cemetery north of Monticello. Mrs O'Rourke was born Kate McDonald at Holy Cross, Dubuque County, on May 1, 1854. In June, 1878 she became the bride of James Lane. They had one son, Dr. James Lane of Cascade, who died February 29, 1920 survived by three children. Mr Lane passed away in 1882, four years after their marriage and Mrs. Lane went to Castle Grove Township, Jones County to live. On February 5, 1885, she married Joseph O'Rourke and they became the parents of four children. Until eighteen years ago, they lived o a farm in Castle Grove, then after a year in Anamosa, they moved to Monticello. On July 2, 1927, Mr O'Rourke died. Mrs O'Rourke is survived by a daughter, Mrs John Corcoran and two sons, John of Castle Grove Township and Joseph, Jr., of Monticello; as well as the thirteen grandchildren. Arthur P O'Rourke, another son died in the service of his country during the World War, May 28, 1918. The local American Legion post is named in his memory.
