Description	:	Catherine Ellis, 84, Ames, died Monday, April 24, at Mary Greeley Medical Center. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 13, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames. Inurnment will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery. Catherine was born May 24, 1921, in Ames to Lee Roy and Gertrude (Reed) Davis. She attended Ames High School and earned her GED in 1968. Read More	Catherine Ellis, 84, Ames, died Monday, April 24, at Mary Greeley Medical Center. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 13, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames. Inurnment will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery. Catherine was born May 24, 1921, in Ames to Lee Roy and Gertrude (Reed) Davis. She attended Ames High School and earned her GED in 1968. She married William Russell Biery in 1937, who died in action in the Philippines in 1945. She later married Delmar Bennett in 1961, who died in 1963. In 1964, she married J. Marion Ellis, who preceded her in death in 2005. She was a lifelong care-giver for not only people, but to animals as well. She and her husband, Marion, were known to all as lovers and friends to dogs who needed a home. She had been employed by the state of Iowa with the Iowa Department of Transportation and Iowa State University for more than 15 years. She was baptized in the Baptist church and a member of the EUB (now United Methodist) church in Ames. She is survived by her son, Michael (Linda) Biery of Oregon City, Ore.; one grandson, Tim (Jennilyn) Biery of Castle Rock, Colo.; one granddaughter, Tonia Biery of Portland, Ore.; two great-granddaughters, Lydia and Carriann Biery of Castle Rock, Colo.; and her brother, Kenneth (Laurene) Davis of Ames. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Roy Davis. She was a resident of Riverside Manor in Ames prior to her death. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Humane Society, Riverside Manor, the local animal shelter or to the donor's choice.
