I checked her death record at the Wapello County Court House, and that is the same date of birth given on her death record. If anyone has information clarifying this situation, please feel free to let me know. Obituary From "Ottumwa Courier," December 13, 1975: Mrs. Cecil E. Davis, 79, formerly of 511 S. Ward died Friday at 5:45 p.m. at Ottumwa Hospital. She and her late husband operated a grocery store on south Ward for many years. Born Dec. 10, 1896, in Fairfield, to Hubert and Ollie Edwards Hoskinson, she had lived in Ottumwa most of her life and was a member of the Finley Avenue Baptist Church. She married Carroll A. Davis Sept. 23, 1917, in Ottumwa. He died in 1954. Survivors are three sons, Carroll of Ottumwa, Vernon of Farmington, Conn., and Dean of Huntington Beach, Calif.; two daughters, Donna Wert of Atwater, Minn., and Janice Magrane of Ottumwa; 13 grandchildren; and one brother, Verdie Hoskinson of San Franciso, Calif. Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at the Johnson Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Dale Arnett Johnson of the Finley Avenue Baptist Church officiating and burial in Shaul Cemetery. The casket will be closed at the beginning of the service.
