Norris and his daughter Hazel left last Thursday for California and returned Wednesday of this week with the body. Funeral services will be held Friday in Polk County and burial will be at Central City. Cecil grew to manhood on a farm in Polk County, attended the rural school nearby and graduated from the Silver Creek High School with the class of 1936. He had spent the last two or three years in California, where he had employment. This community was greatly shocked and saddened by news of the death of Cecil Norris, who was killed instantly last Tuesday night in an automobile accident near Corona, California. Elmer Norris and Miss Hazel left Thursday noon for California and plan to return Wednesday evening with the body. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 at the house and at 2:00 at Fairview Church. A brother of Mr. Norris is here from near Detroit, Michigan. Mr. and Mrs. Harlon Skinner of Bradshaw spent the latter part of the week at the Norris home. Obituary: Cecil, son of Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Norris, of Polk County was born at his home near Silver Creek. He met his death in an automobile accident in California, November 20, 1940/ At he time of his death he was 22 years, 5 months, and 12 days of age. After completing his country school course he attended high school in Silver Creek and graduated from that institution with the class of 1936. He went to Wyoming in the spring of 1937 and in the fall to California where he resided until his death. He leaves to mourn, his parents, one brother Ray and five sisters, Gladys, Grace, Fern, Hazel and Zetha. Beside his own loved ones he leaves a host of friends. He was a young man of high moral ideals. He sought to live a life above reproach. In his association with friends he was unusual in his power to make friends. He had no bad habits. He was entirely free from drink or profanity. His word was a guilt edge with strict honesty. He united with the Fairview Church on January 14, 1934, and retained his membership to his death. The funeral services were conducted at the Fairview Church on Friday and the sermon delivered by Rev. W.D. Hamilton, pastor of the church. Interment was in the Central City Cemetery.
