They bought a farm in Polk County near Silver Creek where they lived and farmed until retirement about 1946. Then they moved to Central City, NE where they lived for the remainder of their lives. Eight children were born to Cyrus and Stella, one dying in infancy. The eldest son, Ray Norris, owns and lives on the farm that Cyrus and Stella bought in 1900. Mr. Cyrus Elmer Norris Dies at 88 Central City - Cyrus Elmer Norris, 88, retired Polk County farmer, died Sunday at his home in Central City after an illness of eight months. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 in the Solt Chapel at Central City. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery. Visiting hours at the Solt Chapel will be Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 o'clock. Mr. Norris was born August 21, 1871, at Findley, Ohio, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John C. Norris. The family moved to Wood County, Ohio, when he was one year old and he attended schools in Wood County. He came to the Clarks, Nebraska community in 1897. He was married to Stella Cowgill on March 11, 1900. They lived on a farm south of Silver Creek in Polk County until 1945, when they retired from the farm and moved to Central City. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include five daughters, Mrs. Gladys Felt, West Plains, Missouri, Miss Grace Norris, Hastings, Mrs. Fern Lyon, Hordville, Mrs. Hazel Boelts, Harvard, and Mrs. Zetha Abel, Central City; one son, Ray Norris, Silver Creek; one sister, Mrs, Rosie Bernard living in Ohio; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
