SEEVERS-A native son of California, Cecil J. Seevers was born at San Jose, September 5, 1891. His father Perry Seevers, was born at Des Moines, Iowa, where he was a nurseryman. There he was married to Josephine Mulles, a native of Iowa. They came to California and located in San Jose, where the husband was engaged as a nurseryman, later removing to Hamilton City, Glenn County, in 1898, where he has been engaged as an horticulturist; his wife died in 1893. Four children were born to this worthy couple: Eugene died in Butte City; Leland has a garage in Butte City; Erlie Mabel is a trained nurse in San Francisco; and Cecil J., the youngest of the family. Cecil J. was brought up in San Jose until seven years of age, when he came to Glenn County, where he grew up on his father's almond ranch, near Orland, meanwhile attending the public schools, on the completion of which he began to learn the trade of machinist. He continued to follow mechanical work and was located in Willows until 1910. He then came to Oroville and began electrical work under A.A. Davis, for the Oroville Electric Corporation, operating a substation and doing general electrical work. Next he was at the Lime Saddle power-house. In 1914, he as appointed foreman of the Cool Canyon power-house, for the Pacific Gas and Electric Company, who took it over in 1916. To perfect himself in electrical work he completed a course in the American Correspondence School, at Chicago, IL. Mr. Seevers is interested in horticulture and he owns twenty acres near Hamilton City, which he has improved and developed into a fine almond orchard.
