Mr. Pierce died of cancer, Tuesday, July 25, 1989, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He was the District Supervisor for the Douglas County Department of Roads. Mr. Pierce was born February 19, 1928 in Peru. He was a longtime resident of Valley. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1946-1947 and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Valley. Mr. Pierce died of cancer, Tuesday, July 25, 1989, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He was the District Supervisor for the Douglas County Department of Roads. Mr. Pierce was born February 19, 1928 in Peru. He was a longtime resident of Valley. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1946-1947 and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Valley. He married Mary Lou Jordan December 4, 1948 in Sidney, Iowa. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Tony and Jon, both of Valley; two brothers, Bert of California and Lewis of Connecticut; sister, Marjorie Barnes of Sidney, Iowa and five grandchildren. The Rev. Bill Ritter will officiate Friday’s services. Visitation is in progress until 9 tonight at Swanson Funeral Home in Valley. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Elkhorn.
