Description	:	Cecil William Lyon, 90, Exeter, died at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 1997, at South Barry County Hospital, Cassville, after an illness. Mr. Lyon was born March 10, 1907, at Perry, Okla. He received his education in Greenwood County, Kan. He farmed for five years during the Depression, then spent the rest of his working years in the oil fields. Read More	Cecil William Lyon, 90, Exeter, died at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 1997, at South Barry County Hospital, Cassville, after an illness. Mr. Lyon was born March 10, 1907, at Perry, Okla. He received his education in Greenwood County, Kan. He farmed for five years during the Depression, then spent the rest of his working years in the oil fields. He retired on April, 1 1971, after 27 years with Texaco Oil Co. He then moved to Exeter, where he raised cattle. He served as mayor of Exeter for two terms. He was instrumental in the building of Exeter Senior Housing, where he served as president and manager for 11 years. He helped form the Exeter Lions Club, serving as president for two years. He served on the Exeter Fire Department for 22 years. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, Cassville. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Exeter. He married Grace Dollard on Sept. 8, 1928, at El Dorado, Kan. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Dale Lyon, Denver, Colo.; a daughter, Phyllis Gable, Exeter; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. The Rev. Jerry Yarnall and the Rev. Don Foley will officiate.
