Read More	Cedric Gates Meister 1998 Halifax Chronicle Herald Cedric Gates Meister, 87, New Ross, died May 21, 1998, in the veterans' wing of Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born January 18,1911, in New Ross, he was a son of the late Lincoln and Burdette (Gates) Meister. He was a member of New Ross United Baptist Church, the church choir, and the male choir. He was one of the founding members of the New Ross Fire Department of which he took an active part, and was a founding member of the Golden Age Club, New Ross, of which he was treasurer for many years. He was a veteran of the Second World War and served overseas with the 4th. Armoured Division. Following his discharge, he operated the Texaco Service Station for 22 years. In later years, he worked for the Department of Highways as a foreman. He enjoyed work, travelling, and his grandchildren very much. He is survived by his wife, the former Margaret Trefry; sons, Brian (Rachel), Edmonton; Robin (Connie), Seffernville; daughter, Sandra (Mrs. Lorne Breckon), Truro; grandchildren, Andrew, Graham, and Emily Breckon, Timothy and Kelsey Meister; sisters, Leitha Sanders, Bernice Hiltz, both of New Ross; Kathleen Dakin, Wolfville; half-sister, Jean Harris, Massachusetts. He was predeceased by son, Richard; brothers, Frederick, Charles, and Otis; half-brothers, Murray, Goodwin, and Clifford; half-sisters, Annie Barkhouse, Marguerite Hunt, and Edna Lavers. No visitation by request. Funeral service 4 p.m. Saturday, May 23, in New Ross United Baptist Church, Rev. Michael Lipe officiating. Burial in New Ross United Baptist Cemetery, where Royal Canadian Legion, New Ross, will conduct a graveside service. No flowers by request. Memorial donations to New Ross United Baptist Church, New Ross Volunteer Firefighters or a charity of choice. Arrangements entrusted to H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, New Ross.
