Description	:	Celestia Colfix (often Colfax) was the daughter of Henry & Mary Celestia (Hall) Colfix. Her mother died when she was 4 days old. She was adopted by her grandparents Tobias Van Buren & Theodotia (Tanner) Hall. The Halls migrated to Lodi Wisc., and later moved to Eden township, Fayette county and then to Auburn, where she grew to womanhood. In 1886 she married George W. Bemiss who died 1 Sep 1894. Four children: Pearl (Mrs. John Jach), Henry C., and Roy all of West Union. Another son, Ray, died in infancy. She moved to West Union in 1909... The Halls migrated to Lodi Wisc., and later moved to Eden township, Fayette county and then to Auburn, where she grew to womanhood. In 1886 she married George W. Bemiss who died 1 Sep 1894. Four children: Pearl (Mrs. John Jach), Henry C., and Roy all of West Union. Another son, Ray, died in infancy. She moved to West Union in 1909 and lived there until her death, making a home for her son Roy. She died at the Community hospital after an illness of several months. She leaves 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, one Uncle, Herbert H. Hall and several cousins. Funeral service was held at the Burnham funeral home, Rev G. W. Ukena reading the service. Burial was at the West Union cemetery. Casket bearers were J.R. Burnett, Royal Iliff, Adam Wagner, Roy Chapman, Archie Musser and Ole Paulson.
