Description	:	HOLDREGE -- Charlene Rhea Farwell, 73, formerly of Oxford and McCook, died Wednesday (Oct. 11, 2006) at the Holdrege Memorial Homes. She was born Aug. 22, 1933, on a farm northeast of Oxford in Harlan County. She was baptized and confirmed at the St. John's Lutheran Church. Read More	HOLDREGE -- Charlene Rhea Farwell, 73, formerly of Oxford and McCook, died Wednesday (Oct. 11, 2006) at the Holdrege Memorial Homes. She was born Aug. 22, 1933, on a farm northeast of Oxford in Harlan County. She was baptized and confirmed at the St. John's Lutheran Church. She received her education at the Mascot Consolidated School, graduating in 1950. On April 8, 1951, she married Gayle D. Farwell of Stamford. They moved to San Diego, Calif., where her husband was inducted into the United States Navy and later served in the Korean War. While in San Diego, she attended junior college. Following her husband's honorable discharge the couple moved to Lincoln, where she was a dental technician while her husband attended the University of Nebraska-Dental College. In 1962, they came to McCook and established a dental practice. She also worked as a teacher's aid in the McCook Public School System and opened an antique store with her friends in downtown McCook. In 1998, following her retirement, she moved to Oxford to be near her family. While in Oxford, she managed the Golden Generation Center. Due to failing health she moved to Holdrege Memorial Homes on Dec. 30, 2005. She was preceded in death by her father; her husband, Gayle on July 17, 1993; two sisters, Diana Kay and Carla Ann both in infancy; brother-in-law, Calvin Farwell and wife, Irene; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Deselms and husband, Frank and Rose Shield and husband, Eldon. Survivors include her two sons, Scott Farwell and girlfriend, Julie of Lincoln and Joe Farwell and wife, Yolanda of Lakewood, Colo.; three grandchildren; her mother, Georgia Ludeke of Holdrege; seven siblings, Janis Einspahr and husband, Virgil of Orleans, Ron Ludeke and wife, Sharon, Sharon Jones and Karen Ludeke all of Oxford, Lana Jean Nitchie and husband, Ron of Littleton, Colo., Steve Ludeke of Lincoln and Rodney "Kim" Ludeke and wife, Patty of Gibbon; sister-in-law, Carol Cox of Las Vegas, Nev.; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be Saturday 11 a.m., at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Oxford with the Vicor B.J. Fouts and the Rev. David Otten, officiating. Following the service cremation will take place and a private family inurnment will be at a later date in the Oxford Cemetery. There will be no public visitation. A memorial has been established in her memory and will be designated to the Golden Generation Center in Oxford and to establish a scholarship fund for Vicar B.J. Fouts to further his ministry.
