Description	:	Charles A. Hardy, 75, died Thursday at 9:15 p.m. at his home, 1310 Ayersville Ave., after being ill most of the summer and in a serious condition for the last two weeks. He was a fireman and stationary engineer until the Defiance Machine Works closed. Since then he had been employed in different kinds of work. Read More	Charles A. Hardy, 75, died Thursday at 9:15 p.m. at his home, 1310 Ayersville Ave., after being ill most of the summer and in a serious condition for the last two weeks. He was a fireman and stationary engineer until the Defiance Machine Works closed. Since then he had been employed in different kinds of work. He was with the France Stone Co. before joining the force of the former Machine Works. The body, now at the Mansfield and Mast funeral home, will be taken to the Church of the Brethren of which he was a member, at 1 p.m. Monday to lie in state for an hour before services at 2 o'clock. Revs. Cletus Myers and Orville Noffsinger will officiate, and burial will be in Riverside cemetery. The family asked that instead of flowers friends donate to the polio fund. Two of the grandchildren are polio victims. Mr. Hardy was born Nov. 13, 1878 in Adams township, a son of the late Andrew and Emeline (Osborne) Hardy. He was married Oct. 4, 1904 to Pearl Kuszmaul who died March 3, 1954. He is survived by six sons, Andrew, Defiance, Lewis, Alvordton, Delmer, at home, Walter, Charles Jr. and Roy, all of Defiance; three daughters, Mrs Ralph (Emeline) Link, Cecil, Miss Hazel Hardy, at home, and Mrs. John (Clara) Bittinger, rt. 8, Defiance; 22 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs Roselle Marckel, Defiance, and Mrs. Carrie Parker, Liberty Center. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Edna Miller; a son, Ralph; six sisters, Mrs. Lavilla Feeney, Mrs. Marietta Marckel, Mrs Ora Roehrig, Mrs. Bertha Mahan, Mrs. Anna Rath and Mrs. Edna Seiple; and a brother, Grover, the latter in infancy.
