Description	:	Charles Albert Brannen was the son of William Alexander Brannen and Amanda Moore. He was the husband of Mergie May Hatfield, the daughter of Abraham Hatfeld and Alice Underhill. They were married on Wednesday, 07 March 1906 in at the house of Mergie's parents in Decatur County, Iowa, D.F. The Newton Kansan, Monday March 8, 1954 p7 Charles A Brannen Dies At Home Sunday Charles Albert Brannen, retired employee of the Gas Service Co, died early Sunday morning at his home, 509 SE 4th St., following a long illness. He was 67. Mr Brannen was born Dec 8, 1886 in Albia, Ia., the son of William A and Amanda Brannen, and had lived in the Newton community for 45 years. He retired last October from the Gas Service Co. He was married Dec 31, 1942 at Wichita to the former Eula M Canfield, who survives. Mr Brennan was a member of the First Christian Church and the Sons of the Union Veterans. In addition to the widow, survivors include two sons, Charles A Brannen of Douglass, Kan, and Rev Theodore Brannen of Dallas, Tex; one daughter Mrs Bernice Alexander of Austin, Tex; three step children, Mrs Regina Wilson of Atwood, Kansas, Mrs Phyllis Young of Wichita and Dwight McNabney of Urbana, Ill, 11 grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:30 pm at Draper's Funeral Home, Rev Norvil Underwood will officiate and burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
