Read More	(Moravia Union December 19, 1957) Charles Coffin, 81, Rites Held Friday Charles Alvin Coffin, the son of Jonathan A. And Mary Hedgecock Coffin, born June 21, 1876, passed away at his home as the result of cerebral hemorrhage on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at the age of 81 years, 5 months and 7 days. He had been largely confined to his home for the last five years due to a heart ailment, Mr, Coffin was born on a farm five and one half miles southeast on Moravia, and he was the last surviving member of a family of eight children. On April 19, 1903, he was united in marriage to Beryl Donahoo, To this union one son, Carl, was born. Following the mothers untimely death August 11, 1904, he was married to Maude Lovell on February 14, 1906. To this union three children were born. Mr. Coffin was a sincere Christian and an active church worker. He joined the Miller Baptist church at the age of 15 and was ordained a deacon in the church in 1914. After moving to Moravia he united with the Evan helical United Brethren church in 1939, and he was a life-member of the "20th Century-Class". He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Martha V., Ora, and Mrs. Mary Ann Pennington, and four brothers, Jasper, Alfred, John, and an infant brother. Those surviving the passing of Mr. Coffin include his wife, Maude, four children, Carl f Promise City; Clell of Moravia; Paul of Tuleta, Texas; and Mrs. Mary houser of Centerville. There are five grandchildren: Mrs John Copeland of Kingsville, Texas; Paul Jr., of Tuleta, Texas; Duane Coffin, Joyce and Jerry Houser of Centerville. Also, there are three great grandchildren. Our friend and father will be remembered for his kind and constant Christian living, his active interest in the work of God's kingdom even when health no longer permitted him to attend church, and his devotion to his home and family. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, Dec. 13 eat 2:00 o'clock at the Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Lynn King officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Mason and Mrs. E. G. Hawk sang the requested hymns with Mrs. Carl Black at the organ. Pallbearers were Kenneth Condra, Guy Argo, Carl Van Zante, Wendell Murdy, Ralph Davis and Harold Hawk. ———— Those attending the Charles Coffin funeral from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Lovell of Galesburg, Ill., Elmer Pennington go Des Moines, Mrs. Hazel Thorne of Batavia, Mrs. Mary Coffman of Ottumwa, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Chambers of Seymour, Mr. and Mrs. Wm.
