Description	:	Carl August Levin, was born in Sweden on May 11, 1866 and came to America in 1869, settling with his parents in Illinois. After two years the family moved to Fremont Township. Since that time, Page County has been the home of the Levine. Since 1944, Carl, better known as “Charlie” has lived with his sisters, Ida and Emma, in Essex. Mr. Levin was an active member of the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Essex. He had been in failing health several months and was a patient in the Deaconess Institute in Omaha twice. He was taken to the... Read More	Carl August Levin, was born in Sweden on May 11, 1866 and came to America in 1869, settling with his parents in Illinois. After two years the family moved to Fremont Township. Since that time, Page County has been the home of the Levine. Since 1944, Carl, better known as “Charlie” has lived with his sisters, Ida and Emma, in Essex. Mr. Levin was an active member of the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Essex. He had been in failing health several months and was a patient in the Deaconess Institute in Omaha twice. He was taken to the Hand Hospital at Shenandoah, March 2, and died while receiving treatment on March 15, 1949, at the age of 82 years, 10 months, and 4 days. Funeral services were held Friday, March 18, at the home at 2 p.m. and in the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church at 2:30, the Rev. Joseph Dahlquist had charge of the services. A mixed quartet Rev. Dahlquist, Eugene Hagglund, Loreen Benedict, and Jo Ann Peterson sang two songs. Organists Loreen Benedict and Del Motte Johnson. Honorary pall bearers were Clarence Liljedahl, Martin Collins, Ernest Hillman, Herbert Johnson, Henry E. Johnson, and John Hilt. Active pall bearers were Donald Erickson, Erick Erickson, Virgil Johnson, Marvin Hillman, Clyde Malmberg, Elmer Hendrickson, Nathan Anderson, and Elmer Strom. Mr. and Mrs. Rehuben L. Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Martin Johnson were in charge of flowers. Burial was in the Essex Cemetery, with Carsons Mortuary in charge. Mr. Levin is survived by two sisters, Ida and Emma Levin of Essex.
