Hoaglund, widely known Brush Creek rancher, passed away at his ranch home yesterday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. following an illness of more than one year's duration, during which time he suffered many light strokes. He was stricken the last time early Tuesday morning and, failing to rally, expired the following day. He was 74 years old. Mr. Hoaglund was born November 16, 1864 at Halland, Sweden, and came to America when a young man of 20 years of age. He first resided in Denver, then went to Leadville and in 1888 he came to this community, where he established a home and has lived here since that time. He was first engaged in mining, but in 1910 he took up ranching and stock growing on Brush Creek and carried on with this work until failing health forced him to retire a few years ago. He was united in marriage to Miss Marie Beck on August 20, 1891 and to this union was born three sons and three daughters. One daughter, Rose Roberts, preceded him in death. Surviving are his sorrowful widow, Mrs. Marie Hoaglund two daughters, Mrs. William Anderson, residing at home, and Mrs. Clarence Quam of this city; three sons, Henry of Aspen, Paul of Rifle, and Ralph of Grand Lake, and nine grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at one o'clock from the Community Church with the Rev. Orman C. King officiating. Interment will be made in Red Butte Cemetery with the Sardy Mortuary in charge. The Sunday Service is being held at the request of the family in order to permit the attendance by distant relatives. Hoaglund aged Brush Creek rancher who passed away last Wednesday, were conducted Sunday afternoon from the Community Church with the Rev. Orman C. King in charge. Interment was made in Red Butte. The services were attended by many out-of-town friends of the family and many ranchers residing in the community. Pallbearers were John Larson of Carbondale, George Blackmore of Rifle, and R. F. Roberts, Charles Weise, John Miller, and James MacKenzie.
