He married Ada Claire Tuel on 17 Sep 1907 in Coon Rapids, Iowa. He was an auctioneer. Jefferson Bee - Tuesday, May 11, 1937 - Charles B. Regan died at Portage, LaPrairie, Canada, April 28, 1937. He was the eldest son of Charles and Mary A. Regan, who were pioneer settlers of Greene county, Iowa. He was born and spent most of his life time in Greene county and community. While still a small boy his father was accidentally killed and soon the heavy responsibility of helping his widowed mother, fell upon him. Thus handicapped he was deprived of a chance to acquire a higher education and most of his schooling was gained at the little country school near his home. He had, however, an unquenchable desire to make something of himself and never missed an opportunity to read a good book or magazine. When only a small boy he displayed a desire to become an auctioneer. Whether he was driving his team to the field or driving the cows up from the pasture, he could be heard selling the team or auctioneering off the cows he was driving. At the age of twenty one he became a full fledged auctioneer and his reputation spread far and wide throughout the western part of Iowa. On many occasions he sold high bred stock in company with our present Governor Kraschel and other leading auctioneers. When the sale business became dull in Iowa he went to Portage, LaPrairie, Canada and was again meeting with the same success, which he had in Iowa, when he was called to Omaha, Neb, on March 28, 1937, to be at the bedside of his dying mother, Mary A. Regan. Her sickness resulted in her death and her death severed a tie between herself and her son, Charles, which had bound them together like a bond of steel. After the mother's death she was taken to her old home and was buried in Willow Township cemetery by the side of her deceased husband. As he stood there by the side of his mothers grave, the wind sweeping through the willows, a flock of birds singing their hearts out as a requiem for her departed soul, he little thought that within a few short weeks he would be called to be buried by her side. He had just reached his hotel in Portage, LaPrairie, when he was stricken down with gastric ulcers of the stomach and although every effort was made to save his life, it was all. With his two sisters, Mrs E.S. McDonald and Mrs E.L. McDonald by his bedside, his soul passed out to fly to the waiting arms of his angel mother. He leaves to mourn his untimely death four sisters: Mrs. Katie Hony and Mrs. E.L. McDonald of Omaha, Neb, Mrs. E.S. McDonald of Des Moines, Iowa, and Mrs. E.J. Sullivan of Marengo, Iowa, and also one brother, Frank Regan of Bagley, Iowa. Funeral services were held Saturday May 1st, at St. Patrick's church in Bayard, in charge of the pastor. Rev. Wm. Heffarty. assisted by Father Mattes of Scranton and Father Hausman.
