Description	:	Charles attended school from 1926 until 1934, the first year in Edmonton and then in Neerlandia. In 1940 he acquired in Neerlandia a half section of school land as a cultivation lease, and bought a tractor and a breaking plow. In August 1941 he was drafted into the Army, and was stationed in several western locations, the last being Vancouver, where he caught the eye of Betty De Jong. On January 12, 1944 they were married in Vancouver and then headed to Neerlandia, where they lived with Charles' parents for a few months until their own little house was built.... On January 12, 1944 they were married in Vancouver and then headed to Neerlandia, where they lived with Charles' parents for a few months until their own little house was built. When Charles' parents retired to the hamlet of Neerlandia, they moved into their farmhouse. After the war Charles had received his discharge and took title of the school land he had previously leased, made possible by a grant through the Veterans Land Act. In 1949 and 1952 Charles and Betty had two sons, David and Joseph (Joe). Charles Baker died in December 2010 at the age of 90 years. His widow Betty died in February 2011 at the age of 88 years.
