Description	:	Charles Basil Brady, son of Mary and Charles S. Brady, was born October 25, 1901, near Vermillion, Kansas. Basil grew to manhood on his father's farm near Lillis, attending Lillis school and later St. Benedict's College at Atchison and Dougherty Business College at Topeka. Basil was employed by the Santa Fe Railway upon leaving business college, being first stationed at San Diego, California, and later assigned as trainmaster's clerk in Slaton, Texas, in 1924, where he worked until 1927 and was transferred to Las Vegas, New Mexico, where he remained until 1930, when he returned to Slaton, where he... Read More	Charles Basil Brady, son of Mary and Charles S. Brady, was born October 25, 1901, near Vermillion, Kansas. Basil grew to manhood on his father's farm near Lillis, attending Lillis school and later St. Benedict's College at Atchison and Dougherty Business College at Topeka. Basil was employed by the Santa Fe Railway upon leaving business college, being first stationed at San Diego, California, and later assigned as trainmaster's clerk in Slaton, Texas, in 1924, where he worked until 1927 and was transferred to Las Vegas, New Mexico, where he remained until 1930, when he returned to Slaton, where he was living at the time of his death. Basil married Veronica Butler of Frankfort on October 20, 1926, at St.. Joseph's Church, Lillis, Kansas. To this union were born two sons, Charles, age eleven; and James, age five. Basil was injured in a car wreck near Lubbock, Texas, on Saturday, April 27, 1940. He was taken to the Lubbock Sanatorium where he passed away a few hours later. Basil is survived by his wife, Veronica and small sons, Slaton. Texas; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles S. Brady; sister, Grace, and brothers, Frank, James and Vincent of Vermillion; sisters, Mrs. James Walsh of Kansas City, Kansas, and Ellen of Wichita, Kansas, and brother, William of Olathe, Kansas. Basil was laid to rest in the St. Joseph's Cemetery at Lillis, on May 1, 1940, Father Lobeck officiating with a Requiem High Mass. His cousins, James and Elmo Nolan, Edward and Leo Brown, Gerard Kaughan and Frank McCoy were pallbearers. The Frankfort Index, Frankfort, Kansas; 4 May 1940
