Description	:	Charles Posten, an early settler in this vicinity and a man highly esteemed by many friends, died at his home in the south part of town, Wednesday night, December 19, 1906, at the age of 87 years, 6 months, and 2 days. Death was caused by paralysis with which the deceased had been suffering for several weeks. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church Friday afternoon at two o'clock under the ministration of Rev. Vedder. Interment was made in the Villisca Cemetery. Death was caused by paralysis with which the deceased had been suffering for several weeks. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church Friday afternoon at two o'clock under the ministration of Rev. Vedder. Interment was made in the Villisca Cemetery. Mr. Posten was born in Licking County, Ohio, June 17, 1819. With his father, he moved to eastern Iowa, in 1836, where in 1841 he married Miss Clesta Hoskins. Four children were born to them: Alsina Mathews of Omaha, Mary Tinlan of Davenport, Easter Cohoon of Creston, and Andrew Posten of Villisca. His wife died in 1862 and three years afterwards, he married Miss Rebecca Payne, to which union were born five children; Lorana Arbuckle, Viola, Fred, and Walter Posten of Villisca, and Charles Posten, who died October 15, 1885. Mr. Posten moved to Taylor County in 1872 and to Villisca in 1883. He was a man of good morals, a vince citizen and had many, many friends who deplore his departure very, very much. The bereaved relatives may ave the assurance that the sympathy of the entire community is extended to them.
