Description	:	Charles Daniel Hayden son of Elisha and Martha Hayden was born near Albany Missouri April 10th 1868, and passed away at Maywood, NE May 2nd 1962 at the age of 94 years and 22 days. In 1884 he came to Frontier County with his father who took a homestead built a house and then returned to Missouri. Read More	Charles Daniel Hayden son of Elisha and Martha Hayden was born near Albany Missouri April 10th 1868, and passed away at Maywood, NE May 2nd 1962 at the age of 94 years and 22 days. In 1884 he came to Frontier County with his father who took a homestead built a house and then returned to Missouri. In 1886, they came back, bringing the family to make their home in Maywood, Nebraska. Exept for a brief few periods in Colorado, the rest of Charles' life was spent in the Maywood vicinity. On Sept 16 1896 he was united in marriage to Hannah McBride, daughter of D.I. and Mary McBride. To this union 10 children were born, 7 daughters, Ethel Flaherty, Emma Kahler, Mabel Wilson of Maywood, Maude Bonser of Ft Collins, Colorado, Martha Elliot of Kearney NE, Myrtle Hendrickson of Brady NE, Velma Smith of Miami FL., 3 sons, Lewis of Maywood, Debert of Houston TX, and Frank of North Platte. His wife Hannah proceeded him in death in May 1959. In 1946 he and his wife celebrated their 50th anniversary, with all of their children present. In 1958 before Hannah's death they has observed the 62nd anniversary. Besides his children Charles leaves behind 30 grandchildren and 89 great grandchildren. One sister Mrs. Dana Steele, the last of his family lives in Oakland, California. Charles experienced all of the hardships and privations of the early day settlers, and saw the change from those times to the present. Until a few weeks agao, when his health began to fail, he was interested in world events, and kept informed by daily reading. The end came quietly Wednesday afternoon, May 2, and we who are thankful for the peaceful ending of a long and useful life. Services were held Sunday, May 6th at 2:30 PM at the Christain church in Maywood NE. Pastor Glen K Moorehead officiated. Singers were Miss Jean Hayden and Mrs. Mildred Corlett accompanyed by Mrs. Ellen Brown. Bearers were his grandsons. Burial in the Maywood Cemetery
