Description	:	Charles D. Richards, eldest son of Millard and Florence Richards, was born August 3, 1877, near Ivyville, Iowa, and passed away Oct 9, 1938, at the Nicholas Senn hospital in Omaha, Nebr, at the age of 61 years, 2 months and 6 days. All that loving hands and medical aid could do was done to prolong his life. He was united in marriage to Nora Hollis who preceded him in death on December 27, 1934. All that loving hands and medical aid could do was done to prolong his life. He was united in marriage to Nora Hollis who preceded him in death on December 27, 1934. To this union two children were born. One daughter, Lula, and a son, Glenn, who died in infancy. Surviving also are: a sister, Mrs Minnie Chaney, of Clearfield, Ia; a brother, LeRoy Richards of Boulder, Colo; one grandson, one niece and three nephews. Mr Richards spent his life in Nodaway and surrounding communities, until the past four years since the passing of his wife he has made his home with his daughter, Mrs Frank Everett, of Council Bluffs, Iowa. He owned a farm about five miles northeast of Clarinda near Hawleyville. Funeral services were conducted last Wednesday, October 12, at the Presbyterian church in Nodaway by the daughter's pastor, Rev R. Gordon Gray of the Westminster Presbyterian church, Council Bluffs, assisted by Rev E.B. Stewart, pastor of the Methodist church in Nodaway. A mixed quartet composed of Mrs H.G. Everett, Mrs Floyd Neill, L.W. Rider and Rev E.B. Stewart sang "Going Down the Valley," "Beautiful Isle" and "Rock of Ages." Mrs Emery Lacox played the accompaniments. Pall bearers were W.H. Taylor, H.D. Vaughn, Bert Kernen, Chas Peterson, Chas Wood and Chas Watts. Interment was made in the family lot at North Grove cemetery. CLARINDA HERALD JOURNAL, Clarinda, Iowa, Oct 20, 1938
