He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, worked as a carpenter in the construction industry,a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church and he loved gardening. Charles was a loving Dad, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. His wife, Carmen Willis Starnes; his parents; two sisters, Edna Starnes and Mary Elizabeth Meadows and one brother, Fred Knight Starnes precedes him in death. He leaves behind his loving family to cherish his memory, one son, Charles Anthony Starnes of Pitkin; two daughters, Jeannie Starnes and Carol Midkiff of Pineville; three sisters, Mary Flowe of Charlotte, North Carolina, Vivian Jones and Julie Scharf both of Virginia; two brothers, Bartley J. Starnes of Australia, George Starnes of Raleigh, North Carolina; three grandchildren; five great-grand-children. Pallbearers will be Jared Doyle, Kyle Willis, Eric Willis, Dan Strother, Gil Comeaux, Jr.,Tyler Comeaux. ∼Obit in Lake Charles American Press 7-23-2009
